The Life Exchange Center is a non-profit organization. We are committed to supporting individuals with mental health and substance misuse who are on the road to recovery. Our ability to remain stable and continue the enhancement and growth our services relies on the contributions from people like you. 

VOLUNTEER

THE LIFE EXCHANGE CENTER IS SUPPORTED BY MEMBER AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS WORKING SIDE BY SIDE TO CREATE AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT WHICH PROMOTES RECOVERY.

Our activities include:

ADAMHS BOARD   

Directs and funds many mental health and addiction services in Cuyahoga county. Website offers resources for anyone seeking services.  


ANOTHER CHANCE OHIO

Families as well as individuals may come to shop for donated clothing and house wares from the "Free Shop".  


BEECH BROOK CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH  

Provides trauma-informed care to support children in overcoming mental illness and diversity while strengthening families. 

 
THE CENTERS FOR FAMILY AND CHILDREN  

Offers case management, counseling and health care for patients, regardless of income. 

 

THE CITY MISSION 

Offers crisis shelters for both men and women and helps to find affordable housing.  

 
CLEVELAND FURNITURE BANK  

Provides gently used furniture to individuals by referral only. Also operates a Thrift Store which sells wide selection and price range of new and gently used furniture, clothing, household goods, small and large appliances.  


FAR WEST CENTER – COMPEER PROGRAM  

Offers a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, counselors and case managers to serve those suffering form life-interfering mental illness. 

 

 
GREATER CLEVELAND FOOD BANK  

Operates a community food distribution center to local pantries. 

 

JEWISH FAMILY SERVICES ASSOCIATION  

Provides services such as case management, counseling and housing assistance to individuals in the Greater Cleveland area addressing domestic violence, homelessness, mental illness and developmental disabilities and senior home care. 

LINKS CLEVELAND  

The mission of LINKS Cleveland is to provide for consumers (club members) the opportunity for social, recreational, educational and personal growth experiences to people living with mental illness. 

 

 

LIVING MIRACLES PEER EMPOWERMENT CENTER  

Offers individuals guidance in advocating for their rights, options for leisure and recreational activities, peer education and peer support.  


MAGNOLIA CLUBHOUSE  

Mental health recovery community based on a model of members working side-by-side with staff to learn new skills, build healthy relationships and find transitional employment.

 

MENTAL HEALTH ADDICTION AND ADVOCACY COALITION

The mission of the Mental Health Advocacy Coalition is to provide a broader unified community voice to advocate for mental health issues and to coordinate advocacy efforts.

 

 

MURTIS TAYLOR HUMAN SERVICES  

Provides case management, mental health treatment, chemical dependency treatment, tutoring and childcare and family guidance.   

 

NATIONAL ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS OHIO  

Advocates and provides resources for those living with mental illness in Ohio.  

 

NATIONAL COUNCIL OF JEWISH WOMEN  

Advocates on behalf of vulnerable individuals concerning issues of human trafficking, women's healthcare and reproductive rights, voter rights and foster care.  

 
OHIO MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION SERVICES (OMHAS)

OMHAS is the state agency that provides resources and support for individuals dealing with mental health or substance abuse disorders. 

SIGNATURE HEALTH 

Mental health care services including groups, individual counseling and psychiatry for individuals with medicaid and medicare benefits. 

 
SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION  

U.S. government body helping connect individuals dealing with mental illness or substance abuse to the services they need. 


UNITED WAY OF CLEVELAND  

Helps with education, health, basic needs and financial stability.

211 is a free community service you can use ti get information about social, health, and government resources twenty-four hours a day.

RECOVERY RESOURCES WARMLINE

Call 216-431-413 to reach trained peer support workers who can provide a listening ear, make referrals and transfer calls to Mobile Crisis, when necessary. The support line operates 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM, 7 days per week. 

CRISIS HOTLINE

Text 4hope to 741 741 to reach support during a mental health crisis. 

Govt Ast

GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE AND SOCIAL SECURITY

Apply for Medicaid or SNAP  

You can also call the help center at 216-738-2067 for SNAP (Food Stamps) or 800-324-8680 for Medicaid to learn how to obtain government assistance.  


Apply for Public Housing (Section 8) 

If you struggle to pay standard rent, apply for government-assisted living through CMHA.  


Apply for Medicare  

Learn if you qualify for health insurance benefits through Medicare and sign up. 

 
Apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)  

Additional income for the government for individuals with disabilities who have limited income and resources. Learn if you qualify and apply.
